Children and Worship

Children are part of our community and join adults for the first 15 minutes of silent worship. The activities provided in the calming corner may help settle active hands and minds during this time. The shelves are located in the mailroom. Likewise, adults are also encouraged to explore and model the activities available. There are breathing and mindfulness exercises that you may find helpful to settle a mind weighed by responsibilities, stress balls and putty to work out tension, and drawing tools for expressing yourself.

Child Safety at RFM

In compliance with our child safety policy, we strive for adult-to-adult transfer of our children between classrooms and the meeting room. RE volunteers return children to their caregivers at the rise of the meeting. RE does not supervise the playground. Caregivers are responsible for the supervision of their children during non-program times.

Program Changes

• The WWG now meets as part of the Junior Young Friends class on 2nd Sundays. They will continue to have opportunities to serve and participate outside of class.
• Another change we are making this year is to the RE schedule. Previously, children experienced Faith & Play on third Sundays. This year, Faith & Play will be on FIRST Sundays. Third Sundays will be an all-ages program. Third Sundays are for seasonal and thematic lessons. We invite those who would like to share a topic of interest with our children on these days. Last year, we had intergenerational experiences presented by adults on topics such as peace cranes, native plants & pollinators, listening circles, and holidays. If you have a topic that is close to your heart and you’d like to share with RE, please talk to Elizabeth Price.

Registration Forms

Parents & Caregivers: As a reminder, RE requires a registration form to be completed yearly. Teachers will be sending these forms home with children, or you can find forms in the mailroom at the calming corner shelves.

RE at The Clearing

Save the date! November 1st, RE will have a Faith & Play in nature experience at The Clearing. Children will join adults for the first 15 minutes of worship at The Clearing before going to their own worship experience. We will also have an all-ages Faith & Play-based class here at RFM on that day during the 11 am meeting.
